TLP was formed in 2004 by three
attorneys who met when they practiced litigation in the Orange County office of a large West Coast law firm. TLP offers its services in the following areas:
Complex Business Litigation. Such cases include breach of contract, 17200 unfair trade practices, fraud, real estate and litigation regarding smaller businesses and closely held corporations, including corporate control battles and cases involving breach of fiduciary duty. TLP's lawyers have handled fraud cases involving the purchase and sale of shares of stock, businesses and other business transactions, allegations of violations of Section 17200 of the Business & Professions Code and breach of contracts for software development, real estate and asset purchases. TLP lawyers have also handled several corporate control cases involving small businesses.
Employment. TLP handles cases on behalf of both defendants and plaintiffs arising out of employment relationships, including allegations of wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, whistleblower claims, false claims, and wage and hour violations.
Intellectual Property. TLP handles trademark, copyright and certain patent cases. TLP's lawyers have handled or managed several cases of this type, including patent litigations involving multiple patents, cases on behalf of well-known brands to enforce trademarks, copyrights and design patents, and enforcement of trademark rights via the Unites States Department of Border and Customs Protection (formerly U.S. Customs). Members of the firm have enforced intellectual property rights worldwide, and can provide coordination and tracking for such efforts or assist a company in establishing or improving in-house enforcement programs.
Trade Secrets. TLP handles cases by plaintiffs and defendants involving allegations of misappropriation of trade secrets.
Real Estate. TLP's lawyers have handled several types of real estate cases, ranging from commercial unlawful detainer cases running into the six and seven figures to inverse condemnation cases.
TLP structures its service to it clients on the following principles:
- All clients, whether an individual or company, plaintiff or defendant, deserve individual and professional attention;
- Lawyers should be responsive to client's needs;
- Representation should be ethical, aggressive and effective;
- Lawyers have a responsibility to give back to the legal and business community;
- Clients paying the firm on a traditional fee basis deserve budgets and accountability to budgets; and
- Clients deserve frequent case assessments that they can understand and that allow them to make decisions regarding strategy, tactics and disposition of their cases at critical stages, including early ones.
