Robert G. Loewy is dedicated to achieving exceptional results for his clients in the most creative and cost-effective manner possible. Primarily focused on business litigation and litigation avoidance, Mr. Loewy's areas of expertise include Section 17200, unfair competition, intellectual property, securities, First Amendment, partnership and corporate governance disputes. His practice is evenly split between the state and federal courts and he represents both plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of industries, including advertising, apparel, biotechnology and technology, entertainment, finance, insurance and real estate.
Prior to forming Teuton, Loewy & Parker LLP in May 2004, Mr. Loewy worked as a litigation counsel at O'Melveny & Myers LLP in Newport Beach. At O'Melveny, Mr. Loewy had extensive experience with all stages of the litigation process, including pre-filing strategy, pre-trial discovery and injunctive relief, trial and appeal.
In 1995, Mr. Loewy graduated with high honors (top 3%) from the University of Texas School of Law, where he was Order of Coif and a Chancellor. At Texas, Mr. Loewy served as Executive Editor of the American Journal of Criminal Law and published "When Jurors Lie: Differing Standards for New Trials," 22 Am. J. Crim. Law 733 (1995). Mr. Loewy received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina in 1992.
Mr. Loewy is actively involved in community affairs and pro bono work. Having received special recognition from the Public Law Center for his work on behalf of the homeless in In re Eichorn, 81 Cal.Rptr.2d 535 (1998), a case in which the California Court of Appeal set a first-in-the-nation precedent on the use of the necessity defense. Mr. Loewy is also a member of the Orange County Bar Association and its Business Litigation Section
